Room check: Langham Hotel, London

Check in encounter: The grand marble entry to the Langham London is a welcome sight after spending 24 hours in the air to get there. Bouquets of white and pink roses always offer foyer -warmed. The staff wear black pants or bantam pink skirt suits with pink ties.

Room: A Grand Langham Club Room, priced from $1150 per night.

Oxford Circus is seven minutes’ walk down Regent St, while the Chiltern Firehouse eatery is 10 minutes in the other direction.

Food and beverage: Roux at The Landau has an incredible choice of rare wines and outstanding seasonal dishes; Artesian is a quite indulgent cocktail bar; Palm Court is ideal for breakfast (with the most astounding yoghurt I’ve ever tasted) as good as the daily high tea, utilizing the place’s own Wedgwood china.

The bed: A Super King – I could not see from one end to the other, and it was amazingly cozy.

The perspective: Out over the rooftops of London.

Toilet: Marble, big with doors dividing the lavatory and shower from the bathroom and dressing table.

Room service: After a very long day in the V&A museum I did not feel like venturing outside so I purchased a club sandwich and french fries.

Value for money: Definitely, though in case you can manage this, why don’t you go bigger?

Facilities: Along with complimentary clothing-pressing and accessibility to the Health and Wellness Centre and Chuan Spa with its 16m-long swimming pool, Langham Club Rooms enable you access to the Langham Club Lounge, a space for associates to enjoy all-day refreshments and early evening drinks and canapes, plus usage of the Langham Club boardroom as well as the Langham Club Lounge computers.

Perfect for: An remain during a busy work week in London. My ornate room’s elaborate desk and it were perfect for composing posts while I was in the Northern Hemisphere.

At the drop of a hat.
